Job Title: Energy Champion ( East Neuk and Landward Energy Network )
Location: Home based and covering local area
Salary Grade:
Hours: Part time, 10 – 20 hours per week, to be discussed at interview.
Some evening and weekend work will be required.
Term of Contract: This is a fixed term contract until 31 st March 2011,
with the possibility of an extension if further funding can be sourced.
Reporting to: ENLEN Energy Co - ordinator
Qualifications: No specific qualifications required as full technical
training will be provided, but you must be enthusiastic about saving energy, and
helping others in your community to do so.
Car Use: Regular travel within your immediate locality will be required,
and occasional visits to the ENLEN office in Anstruther. Whilst a full driving
licence is useful, we encourage walking / cycling / public transport use
wherever possible.
Note: ENLEN is the employer of all posts for this project, but
recruitment, salaries and compliance with employment laws will be managed by
VONEF ( Voluntary Organisations North East Fife ) on behalf of ENLEN
Purpose of Job
The East Neuk and Landward Energy Network aims to provide local solutions to unaffordable fuel bills and climate change. The network will be undertaking energy audits, support and advice as well as enabling increased uptake of the various schemes currently on offer such as cavity and loft insulation, draught proofing, new double glazing, heating controls and replacement boiler systems ENLEN is recruiting up to 5 part time Energy Champions, who will be local people who have good community links, an interest in energy and carbon saving, and a passion for making a difference. You do not need to have any specific knowledge or experience in energy saving as full training and support will be given. You will be the ‘on the ground’ contact for your local community, and will be carrying out initial surveys, providing advice and motivating people to make changes which will enable them to better afford their fuel bills, live in warmer, more comfortable homes, and reduce their impact on the environment. Training will initially be provided by the Energy Co - ordinator, and you will also attend formal home energy assessment training courses such as City & Guilds and Changeworks, leading to a recognised qualification.
